Barbara Short Project Director/Art Specialist
Barbara has been an Art Educator for 26 years, 24 of them in the Fairbanks School District. She has been the Art Coordinator for most of this time. She has a BA in Art, a K-12 Certificate, an M Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction, and a Type B Administration certificate, and is the Project Director for Project ARTiculate.
Barbara has taught students and teachers from pre-school through high school, as well as university level students. She enjoys teaching at every level, but always for a different reason. She is currently working with special education students.
Barbara is supported by her family including her husband and two daughters. She loves to make art, attend plays, and sing (when in a large group) in her spare time. Close -
Linda Pfisterer Art Specialist
Linda has been a teacher for 20 years working not only in Fairbanks but also Savoonga and Fort Yukon. She has a BA in Art, a K-12 Certificate, and an MAT in elementary education.
Linda works with intermediate level students, currently focusing on 3rd and 6th grades. She is a thorough researcher, delving deeply into her lessons in preparation for her students and their teachers. She sets high expectations which her students love to reach.
Linda's life revolves around her large family and her art-making which keeps her artistic passion alive. Close -
Karen Stomberg Art Specialist
Karen has taught in the Fairbanks Elementary Art program for 18 years. She has a BA in Art History/Art Education with K-12 certification, a BFA in Painting and Printmaking, and an M Ed in Curriculum and Instruction.
Karen has taught students at all levels, from pre-school special education to university education. Her present focus is Special Education and 4th/5th grade and she strives to develop lessons that interest and simultaneously challenge her students and their teachers.
Karen's life is kept enriched by a daughter, a Girl Scout Troop and a home studio in which she loves to paint and make prints. Close -
John Lentine Art Specialist
John retired from teaching in Fairbanks in 2006, after 27 years as an art teacher. He has a BA in Art, K-8 Teacher Certification, and an MA with a focus on Arts.
John was a primary art specialist spending most of his teaching career with K-2 students. He always brought a magic to the classroom by teaching art through songs, characters, humor and illusions.
John married and moved from Alaska in 2006. He now has the time to pursue his many artistic interests including making art, singing, and furthering his career as a magician. Close -
Jenifer Cameron Art Specialist
Jenifer has been a teacher for 16 years, working in St. Mary's and Wrangell before settling in Fairbanks. She has a B Ed in Elementary Education, a K-8 Art endorsement, and is at present completing her M Ed.
Jenifer has 8 years as am elementary classroom teacher and 8 years as an art specialist. Her present focus, on 2nd and 4th/5th students and teachers, allows her to stimulate learning in the classroom while encouraging all. She believes in focusing on the arts as a way to teach all areas of the curriculum.
Jenifer has developed and maintained a successful art studio, selling her artwork throughout Alaska. Her supportive family includes her husband and two daughters. Close
