Vincent Van Gogh Self-Portraits

Students study the self-portraits of the Dutch painter Vincent Van Gogh. They look at his impressionist style of painting and then create their own self-portrait in tempera paints.

Objectives and assessment criteria

Students will:

1. learn about Vincent Van Gogh and look at his self-portraits.
2. look at the impressionistic style of painting using lots of colors, swirls and dabs.
3. paint their own self-portrait using a style similar to Van Gogh.
